Job Description:

Groton School is seeking an Assistant Coach for its Boys Junior Varsity Hockey program, beginning in the 2022-23 winter term (late November through early March). This position requires up to 20 hours per week, Monday through Saturday, and reports to the Head JV Coach and the Athletic Director. The successful candidate will have a strong hockey background and enjoy working with a diverse group of high school students. Compensation will be based on experience and does not include benefits. Responsibilities and Duties: Instruct players in the techniques of the game Organize and direct individual and small-group practice activities/exercises Assess player skills and monitor players during competition and practice Determine game strategy Supervise athletes during practices and competition Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors Travel with team to away contests The ideal candidate will have: Two or more years of hockey coaching experience Ideally two or more years experience playing hockey at a high level (e.g., in college) Excellent teaching skills and a deep knowledge of the game An inclusive approach to teaching and educating Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide array of people (students, coaches, staff, faculty, health care providers) Groton School is an equal opportunity employer.
