We are seeking a *Clinical Perfusionist *to join the Cardiac Surgery team at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. As we expand our Cardiac Surgery Service Line to meet the rising demand for exceptional patient care, we're building a forward-thinking, collaborative team dedicated to innovation, clinical excellence, and continuous professional development. With the addition of new surgeons and new leadership team, our program is entering an exciting phase of growth. Plus, we offer enhanced scheduling options and competitive compensation packages. We'll rely on you to set up, prepare, and operate heart-lung machine(s) and associated monitoring equipment under the direction of the surgeon and anesthetist to provide life support services to patients during heart operations.

*Responsibilities*:
* Provide cardiopulmonary support for patients undergoing open-heart and other heart operations under the direction of a surgeon
* Order and interpret laboratory tests, add blood to the circuit, administer medications, and make other needed adjustments while continuously evaluating condition of patients
* Administer blood and blood products, IV solutions, and drugs while on bypass and maintain detailed, accurate records on all actions taken and results of tests
* Select the appropriate oxygenator/perfusate and conduct perfusion to maintain the blood volume/blood pressure, peripheral resistance oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange, acid-base balance hematocrit, and temperature at appropriate values
* Set up, prepare, and operate monitoring systems for blood pressure intro-cardiac pressures and electrocardiogram during operations
* Participate in determination of special equipment requirements such as intro-aortic balloon and provide circulatory assistance and/or mechanical support for patients throughout the hospital as required



*Qualifications*:
* Bachelor's degree in circulation technology or related field preferred; at least six months of formal training at an accredited school of perfusion technology required
* Current perfusionist certification required; prior experience preferred
* Knowledge of normal pump bypass chemistry and physiological measurements, with the ability to carry out complex medical support procedures requiring patient planning/analysis during operations
