How you will spend your time as our next Vice President - IT/CIO

The Chief Information Officer is responsible for the performance of all aspects of Information Technology, Security, and Infrastructure within Qlik. The person in this role is first and foremost a leader of people through whom Qlik can successfully plan, develop, and execute information technology strategies and tactics supportive of Qlik’s goals and strategic objectives. This leader must recruit, develop, and inspire talented IT professionals, men, and women of integrity with robust collaborative and relational skills who are exceptionally process- and systems-oriented.

Reporting to Qlik’s CTO, the CIO will influence and direct deployment and use of technology across the entire organization while leading, motivating, and directing IT to collaborate effectively and partner with critical internal and external resources, including executive colleagues such as the CDO. This leader will serve as a crucial advisor to other Qlik leaders regarding strategic planning, assessment of IT industry trends, and other IT issues. This leader must continually demonstrate integrity and credibility by matching words and actions, effective listening, and serving to solve strategic and tactical information technology challenges.

To be considered for the role, you need to have the following skills and qualifications

Minimum of 8 years of experience with increasing responsibilities in management and support of information technology including direct management of a major IT operations in technology-focused companies

Experience with both in-house, managed services, and outsourced solutions as well as the ability to manage and govern large scale vendor relationships

Demonstrated leadership around business transformation and subscription focused technology company business processes

Documented project management experience using a variety of methodologies for the planning, implementation, and support of systems in an enterprise software company

Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal

Effective verbal and written communication skills and effective presentation skills

Strategic Initiatives and Organizational Planning:

Provide executive-level oversight and direction to issues of information technology selection, strategic planning, operational performance, risk management, cybersecurity, and security viability

Lead and drive transformational change within IT systems to support Qlik’s overall strategic priorities around SaaS and subscription

Assist the CTO in the annual strategic priorities planning process

Advise and assist Qlik in the selection and deployment of technologies. Present recommendations independently and challenge business partners’ thinking regarding technology.

Promote a culture of continuous process improvement

Establish vision and strategy of Information Technology in alignment with and to support organizational needs and communicate such strategies

Provide direction and oversight of the annual IT Strategic and Tactical plans. Maintain succession plans for critical positions and ensure critical talent/skills are identified and in place to support organizational growth and needs


Manage the delivery of IT services in alignment with best practices

Foster high user satisfaction in response to requests and incidents to meet or exceed stated SLA

Promote the professional development of technology team while providing a clear vision and strategy

Thoughtfully manage various providers of managed services, solution vendors, and contractors as part of the service delivery team

Ensure that all information systems operate according to internal standards, external accrediting agency standards, regulatory agencies, and legal requirements

Validate and continue to practice system recovery plans for reliability in the event of power failure, damage to the system, etc.

Facilitate correction of any system failures


Ensure high availability and reliability of critical systems with the best use of current proven technologies

Execute initiatives based on the technology roadmap


Represent information security standards and practices to the Executive Team, the Chief Counsel, Compliance Officer and the Board of Directors

Oversee the formal Information Security Program, providing guidance to its manager, reviewing assessments, controls and policies to ensure the highest level of cybersecurity for the organization

Promote a risk management approach to cybersecurity and advocate for tools, policy, and practice as necessary to excel as measured by standard cybersecurity risk frameworks and practice maturity models

Develop and enforce policy and procedures to ensure the protection of Qlik’s IP assets and the integrity, security, and privacy of the information entrusted to Qlik

Business Transformation

Drive transformational change through a modernization program of Qlik’s business systems, processes, and data governance

In partnership with other business units, provide appropriate system training and ongoing optimization of workflows through the use of technology

Advances recommendations regarding processes and technologies to business partners; vets and potentially challenges recommendations put forward by business partners regarding technologies and processes

Willing to make difficult decisions for the welfare of the organization and accepts responsibility for such decisions

Nurtures an organizational environment in which employees are encouraged and have the confidence to communicate with leadership ideas, recommendations, problems or opportunities of any kind

Q ualifications

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or other relevant fields ; MBA is strongly preferred

Demonstrated experience developing strategies at the C-suite level

Thorough understanding of and ability to apply knowledge of information technology, project management, and risk management to position the cooperative for success

Creative and analytical abilities

Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal abilities

Demonstrated cultural competence (awareness, attitude, knowledge, willingness and skills to work effectively with a diverse generational employee and member population)

Expert knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution

Exceptional judgment and analytical, decision-making skills; excellent people leadership skills, system analysis, and evaluation skills

Driven, fact-based, results-oriented and collaborative with a proven track record for leading, aligning, and managing teams against high-performance objectives

Socially skilled in engaging with all roles throughout the organization

Track record of coaching, mentoring, developing, and motivating peak performance within the leadership team

A passion for building and sustaining professional relationships both internal and external to the cooperative
