Vice President of Finance - Strategy is responsible for monitoring
and advising the Company on strategic financial risk management and
to develop mitigating and hedging strategies to maximize management
Company financial performance.. Job Description.
Operational/Functional. Manage the Company’s financial forecasting
and budgeting process. Prepare regular management company forecasts
for operating results, capital expenditures, and cash flows and
identifying material changes in projected financial position..
Manage Company financial risk by monitoring published correlative
leading economic indicators, company debt covenant obligations, and
hotel projected financial performance against obligations under
management contracts. Prepare regular reports on status of
contractual compliance and collaborate with Senior Leadership and
Finance to develop risk mitigation strategies and tactics..
Collaborate with Finance and Senior Leadership on recommendations
to strengthen the Company balance sheet and maximize Company
financial performance. Prepare regular benchmark reporting of
Company performance against other comparable hotel management
companies.. Collaborate with CFO to prepare comprehensive periodic
reporting on Company performance and financial risks for Board of
Directors meetings of Sonesta, Service Properties Trust, and The
RMR Group.. Act as the Company Financial liaison with The RMR Group
Asset Management Team and provide regular communications,
reporting, and follow up with information requests.. Assist the
Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Operations
in preparing financial underwriting for new hotel projects,
pre-opening budgets, staffing guidelines, property and design
reviews, working capital requirement forecasts and with other
project requirements for regional hotels.. Strategy and Planning.
Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning,
introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory impact..
Collaborate with Operations, Finance, and other company discipline
teams to develop and implement finance policies and procedures that
support the company’s global strategies and programs to improve
hotel operational efficiency for profit optimization.. Develop and
promote a culture of continuous process improvement and
automation.. Establish, monitor, and report on performance to
agreed upon Service Level Agreements (“SLA”) with organizational
stakeholders. Manage team performance against relevant SLA metrics
to achieve and maintain SLA goals.. Actively engages in developing
personal professional competencies to maintain awareness of changes
in hotel operations trends, revenue generating opportunities,
accounting regulations and laws, financial reporting and tax
matters.. Leading with Passion. Cultivates positive employee
relations and morale. Practice sound leadership and management
principles to promote a strong culture of teamwork.. Ensure team
members receive proper training applicable to their position and
career aspirations and in accordance with company policy and/or
local law. Responsible for team member professional development and
provides timely performance feedback.. Responsible for monitoring,
measuring, and recognizing performance of team members who directly
report to the role and indirect reports. Handle employee issues in
a professional and timely manner. Support, comply and promote
company initiative, policies and guidelines.. Qualifications. 10+
years as financial leader in with relevant experience in a complex
operating environments and financial structures and able to manage
effective owner relations.. Must be able to maintain good
relationships with all departments in the hotel, corporate and
owners to promote effective internal control and financial advisory
role.. Must have the ability to communicate and the commitment to
follow all local and corporate policies and procedures.. Must have
a high degree of professional integrity, and be able to work safe,
effectively and efficiently.. B.S. in Hotel Administration and/or
Business Administration/Accounting. A Master’s degree in Business,
Finance, or Accounting and a current is highly desirable.. Strong
background and knowledge of financial reporting and business
