ROLE SUMMARY

As a member of the Genetic Toxicology Group within Global Toxicology, this genetic/cellular toxicology expert will evaluate the potential of therapeutics to cause DNA damage. Work will include the development of cellular and molecular biology tools for the purpose of identifying mechanisms of genotoxicity/cellular toxicity. The individual will interface with drug discovery teams to provide genetic toxicology expertise. Specifically, the individual will communicate the interpretation and drug-development implication of results from standard assays and investigational studies. Within Genetic Toxicology, he/she will guide the design of experiments, mentor and develop other scientists and maintain an awareness of current scientific literature. Additionally, the individual will influence the external environment via presentations, publications and membership in consortia. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills required to build networks and partnerships and a strong background in cellular biology.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Genetic toxicology subject matter expert
  • Provide genetic toxicology expertise to DSRD and discovery project teams by communicating and interpreting results of standard and investigational genotoxicity studies.
  • Integrate data and present findings and interpretations in written and oral reports to peers, management, and regulatory agencies
  • Explore, develop and apply novel in vitro assay systems to study mechanisms of genotoxicity
  • Guide the design of experiments and mentor other scientist
  • Influence the external environment via presentations, publications and membership in consortia

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

  • PhD in cellular biology, molecular biology, molecular toxicology, cancer biology or a related field
  • Demonstrated Genetic Toxicology Subject matter expertise with a minimum of five years of experience
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Highly organized in terms of independent goal setting and diligence in advancing projects towards goals

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with error-corrected sequencing and computational biology
