About The Opportunity
This position is responsible to secure that only conforming
product will be used on our production lines and will provide
leadership and direction from a plant perspective to all suppliers
ensuring compliance to GKN's Supplier Standards as well as
Automotive Industry Standards.
The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer demonstrates a strong
quality systems acumen and possesses technical and analytical
aptitude, high energy and the passion to be challenged in a
fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

- As project leader, secure implementation of "proactive next
steps and deliverables" as outlined in the "SQ walk" to achieve the
purchasing contribution towards our NRFT reduction targets.
Manage the supplier Concern and Complaint Management (CCM)
process by opening complaints, creating executive one-pagers,
sending detailed information to suppliers and CSQs and,
implementing containment actions in the plant (after validation
with the CSQ responsible for the supplier).
- Address non-conforming product quality issues, found through
incoming inspection or lineside:
Understand how the QE has validated the claim being attributable
to a supplier defect (likely root cause) and that our process
variation has no impact.
Initiate a containment for the agreed parts population with QE
approved sort criteria.
Arrange for suppliers to order sorts directly with GKN
authorized sorting companies.
Recommend adjustments to scope and priorities for incoming
inspection checks (SAP quality module) to reflect new parts, prior
supplier history, current or repeat complaints.
* Develop a standard reporting that provides transparency to the
timely 8D closure status (via CSQs) in our efforts to avoid repeat
supplier quality issues. For sub-contracted and local suppliers,
handle the full implementation and follow up of A3/8D steps
Support any GKN production line activities related to APQP, PPAP
and PTRS as well as IATF 16949 related plant audits.
Responsible for communicating when there is an issue affecting
the Environment, Health, Safety or Quality to his / her respective
Leads other supplier quality engineers or supplier quality
technicians across plants and shifts.
Key Supplier Quality contact for the Operations Director,
attends daily plant production meetings and provides weekly SSC
updates on supplier quality and chargeback status.
Supports new program launches for NWT as Supplier Quality
- Coordinates responses from CSQs for QA matrix activities.
Communicates and follows up on all QA matrix related SQ
activities/ tasks (from prototypes to mass production) with CSQs
(including tech. reviews/ audits, APQP management) and Program
Buyer/Program Procurement Leader.
Ensures respective Program Procurement Leader has summary of SQ
updates for "Green Team" meetings as they represent SQ in such
Supports and coordinates PLQR & PSSO audits.
Supports lessons learnt and cross functional reviews.
SQ contact in IPM for SQ related activities
Resolves any communication issues/ escalations with CSQs in
other regions if no regional CSQ exists for certain

Establish a regular exchange platform with other GKN plants

Bachelor degree in Engineering, Science, Technology or
5 plus years as a Supplier Quality Engineer in Automotive
- Experience and knowledge in metallurgy, forging or machined
casting is strongly desired
- Interpretation of drawings and technical specifications
(including GD&T) is strongly desired
- Bearing manufacturing knowledge and experience
- Experience with quality processes such as FMEA and PFMEA
- Experience/training with IATF 16949 or ISO systems
- Lean Principles, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma
- Supplier or Purchasing environment experience
