OverviewThe primary objective of the position is to provide responsive, effective residential supports and to lead the staff team in creating an atmosphere that places individual respect, dignity and empowerment above all else.The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.Physical demands: Sitting, pushing pulling, carrying, grasping, speaking, listening, stooping, crouching, bending, standing, twisting, crawling, walking, climbing. Ability to lift up to fifty (50) lbs. on occasions and up to seventy-five (75) lbs. with assistance. Ability to drive. Ability with training to perform appropriate physical restraints as needed.ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate good communication skills and sound professional judgment.Respond effectively to potential safety hazards and emergencies. Maintain a clean, orderly and safe environment by being respectful of property and equipment. Follow proper maintenance and safety protocols.Ensure that all individuals are treated with respect, dignity and support to take as much control as possible over routines and activities in their home.Coordinate the involvement of each individual in all planning and decisions that will have an impact on their lives.(A) Ensure they are involved with the recruitment, evaluation, and continued employment of staff who work with them.(B) All planning (ISP & other) regarding the present and future interests of the individual.(C) The routines of their life, work, home, vacations, meals, leisure time.(D) The culture of their home regarding respect for privacy common courtesy, shared responsibilities.(E) Healthcare decisions, treatment.(F) Access to the support of family, guardian or an advocate to assist with potentially dangerous, costly or risky situations.Coordinate meetings, coomunications, etc. that ensure each individual has the opportunity to develop (with their team) an Individual Service Plan (ISP) with ongoing revisions as requested by DDS, by the individual or resulting from change or progressQualificationsRegistered Nurse with current MA license. Min. one year working in a residential setting with disabled adults or Home Care / Long Term Health Care experience. Excellent communication skills. Valid Massachusetts drivers license.
